About Maya Fadlon : 2022-2024

My name is Maya Fadlon, and I was born in a small suburban in the south of Israel – Meitar. I recently finished the first year of my BA, studying International Relations and Communication and Journalism in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

My grandfather, Chaim, was born in Israel after his parents escaped the pogroms in Russia. In his lifetime he fought three wars, moved to the Negev out of Zionism, worked in the Israeli Nuclear Research Center and invented "Yeal", an electronic fence system used to this day to protect the Israeli boarders. I was raised upon values which state clearly; an Israeli must take an active part in defending our country, of which the very existence and essence is constantly challenged by many factors in the international community, all whilst maintaining the aspiration for peace.

During my adulthood, I have made it my mission to live by these values. I've graduated with honors from Parkway North HS in St. Louis, MO, in that time I`ve dedicated many hours promoting Israel`s advocacy in organizations such as StandWithUs and JSU. Although my time abroad, I had no doubt in my mind I will join the IDF. I started my service as a basic training commander, later on continued to Officer`s course and eventually completed my service as a company commander in the Air Force. Both Officer`s and company commander`s courses I`ve completed as the chosen Excellent apprenticeship.

I aspire to promote, as a representative of Israel`s youth, a program which will engage in advocacy for peace and joint action on social media. As of today, social media is often used for incitement and polarization, creating a snowball effect of fear and avoidance in youth. The program would highlight it can be done differently. By taking a case relevant to all, climate change, fellow representatives and I will demonstrate a model of a collaborative effort to achieve success. Thus promoting the UN`s SDG`s for climate action and peace.

I refuse to accept the claim that Zionist activity has been waning since 1948. The younger generation is motivated and willing to promote the values upon which this country was founded. I`m honored to be the representative of Israel`s incredible youth for 2022-2024, and share all I`ve learned regarding the importance of Israel`s foreign affairs in all fields and sectors.

About the Youth Delegate Program

Have you ever dreamed to work in the UN? Has the idea of representing Israel been a dream for you but seemed so out-of-reach? If you answered yes, then you are in the right place!
The Youth Delegate Program, administered by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs with partnership with IMUNA and "Reshut Ha'tzeyirim", is a program where one Israeli youth is chosen in order to represent the country in the United Nation's headquarters in New York. The program includes young people from all around the globe, who are passionate and eager regarding international relations. The delegates discuss, have meetings, and represent their countries with the aim of advocating for social justice.

The Israeli Model United Nations Association (IMUNA), is a non-profit organization, focuses on promoting and empowering the next generation of diplomatic leaders in Israel. IMUNA facilitates various programs and seminars which engage in and focus on international relations, decision making, conflict resolution, public speaking etc. Catering to students and young professionals, and providing them experience and practical insight in these fields.
